Approximately 12 hours. We can teach:
TWO DAY CLASS = (1) 8-hr day AND (1) 4-hr day

The advantages of being your own Training Center:
You will only have to purchase the equipment and supplies (which meet ASHI requirements) that you need.
You will be able to process your own paperwork instead of using a third party.
You will only need to order the textbooks and certification cards you need.
Note: ASHI Instructor Application fee or renewal fees are not included with this course

Certification Period:
2 Years.

Continuing Requirement:
Instructor must instruct a minimum of 2 courses per year, pay renewal dues to ASHI, and remain an affiliated Training Center to remain current.

$400. Fee includes IDC Materials and Training Center Manual. THIS FEE DOES NOT INCLUDE INSTRUCTOR MATERIAL (such as books, DVD, powerpoint, etc.).
This course fee does NOT include the ASHI Instructor Application fee. Since we do not know what you will be teaching and prices change these materials MUST be purchased directly though the American Safety & Health Institute. You only need to purchase what you plan on teaching.  For a list of current additional APPROXIMATE cost see below.

Course Details:
IDC Students will learn new methods that involve, influence and facilitate adult learning while refining your teaching skills. The goal of the IDC is to provide Instructor candidates a strong foundation in teaching knowledge and skill. The fundamental objective is to help candidates develop the confidence and competence to teach, evaluate, and certify students in ASHI Training Programs. Participants will learn to use a variety of instructional strategies in an environment that encourages positive group interaction and active learning.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be eligible to receive an American Safety & Health Institute instructor certification in CPR/AED and First Aid.

ASHI’s training programs are nationally recognized and are endorsed, accepted, approved, or meet the requirements of nearly 1000 state regulatory agencies and occupational licensing boards, including those licensing Emergency Medical Service providers, physicians, pharmacists, dental health professionals, child care providers, law enforcement officers, school teachers, and many others.

ASHI’s resuscitation programs for basic and advanced life support conform to national standards and are based on the same scientific guidelines and treatment recommendations used by the American Heart Association (AHA) and American Red Cross (ARC) for course development. ASHI professional resuscitation programs meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Services.

ASHI resuscitation programs are nationally approved by the Continuing Education Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS), and are accepted as equivalent to the AHA and ARC by most state regulatory authorities, the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, and others.

Refunds:
Student must notify Indiana Safety and Health at least 5 business days prior to the class date.  Because class size is limited, a $100 cancellation fee will be charged on those cancellations. Absolutely no refunds will be given after that time. Class minimums MUST still be met to hold class.

Additional APPROXIMATE fees to start teaching CPR/AED and FIRST AID classes:

As you can see to become and instructor and start a business (like any business) can be expensive. This is only an idea of some fees.  Other fees to be concerned with are computer, printer, website, marketing, etc. We include the list above NOT to discourage anyone from becoming an instructor, but to instead give them a REALISTIC idea of what other cost MAY be associated with it. We want to make sure that students that enroll in our IDC course have an idea what they're signing up for to avoid cancellations, confusion, and disappointments.

Being an instructor is rewarding and fulfilling.  At Indiana Safety and Health, Inc. we have taught many instructors.  We have also taught thousands of students. We know from first hand accounts that our students HAVE saved lives!  This makes the fees, cost, and work worth it.  Our instructors do not do this line of work to be rich, but to enrich.
